The 310-acre Fred G. Bond Metro Park in the heart of the town of Cary, North Carolina, is an oasis that offers many types of fun recreation. It is one of Wake County’s largest municipal parks, has free admission, and the gates open by 7:30 AM and close at sunset. There are activities for the whole family and for visitors of all ages, the park overlooks a large lake, and the design acts to preserve the environment. The park is part of the greenway system throughout the city with a special trail that winds through the area.

Trails

The park’s most prominent and popular feature is its many well-maintained and well-marked trails that are ideal for hiking, jogging, biking, and walking your dog through the woods and around the lake. There is a rustic trail behind the lake and other trails that are blacktop, partly paved, dirt, soft surface, or grass. The three different loop trails meet up at a central spot, and all trails are relatively short with the Lake Trail being the longest at 2.2 miles. That provides a lovely hike around the lake with a good portion being natural terrain winding through the trees and going over numerous bridges. It is also great for walking in the shade during the hot summer, and the paved trails are handicap assessable. After a lovely hike around the lake, visit Crescent Dental for all of your dental needs.
