What is Invisalign?

For those who don’t want to deal with braces but care about the cosmetic appearance of their teeth, Invisalign is a definite solution. A lot of people may have heard about Invisalign, but are not quite sure what the procedure is and how it can help them.

Invisalign is custom made. It is an aligner that is interchanged every two weeks for a segment of six to eighteen months. Invisalign is used for orthodontic treatment as a technique to properly align teeth without the hectic frustration of brace alignments.

The invisible alignment is constructed from a computer-generated mold of the patient’s teeth, and the fitting is unique for each patient. This is what makes Invisalign special; it is fit uniquely for each patient and thus can mold and shape to the individual needs of the patient.

When it comes to convenience, Invisalign is the way to go. It is easy to remove for brushing, eating, or drinking, a huge advantage over braces. You can eat corn on the cob, crunchy taco shells, beef jerky with Invisalign. However, you cannot eat such foods with braces as the food gets caught in the metal brackets that are glued to the tooth. There is a lower risk of bacteria associated with Invisalign than with braces as well since the patient can brush their teeth easily with Invisalign.

Though fashionable and convenient, Invisalign does have its drawbacks. Invisalign cannot fix malocclusion which is a badly aligned bite. Alignment tools are not effective in moving and pushing the tooth roots in the back of the mouth, molars when gaps are present. Aligners work best when teeth need to be tilted back into place. Invisalign works with aligning teeth in a more uniform fashion. Braces work best when moving deep-rooted teeth such as molars.

The convenience of Invisalign can present a problem, as well. While the patient can take them out at their leisure, this makes the possibility of losing the Invisalign greater.

Cosmetic appearances are important and Invisalign is there to rescue those who feel a low level of confidence because of the look of their teeth. Invisalign is here to provide an optimal solution for the problems misalignment causes. These problems include tooth pain, tooth decay, bacterial build-up, and jaw pain. Braces, while effective, are unsightly. Invisalign provides a clear solution that people can barely notice when looking at your teeth. It is a cleaner, more convenient method of keeping the teeth aligned. Braces can leave your teeth stained whereas Invisalign leaves behind a clean tooth, free from decay and bacteria. You are able to enjoy the freedom of eating what you want with Invisalign, and you can still brush and take care of your teeth the way you want to. Invisalign is clearly the better choice for teeth alignment.
